Goan style silver fish curry recipe is traditional recipe. This fish curry recipe is flavoured with whole spices, tamarind and fresh coconut is an integral part of this recipe.
Serve this fish curry recipe with hot steam rice and fried fish.
Step By Step Method
1. Take fresh grated coconut, red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, tamarind, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder.
2. Make fine paste adding little water.
3. In a pan add oil, let it become hot.
4. Add curry leaves let it splutter.
5. Add chop onion and slit green chillies.
6. Add the paste and saute for five minutes.
7. Stir occasionally.
8. Add water as required for gravy and add salt as required.
9. Add the cleaned and washed.
10. Give a nice boil and then simmer and cook for ten minutes.
11. Fish curry is ready to serve.
12. Serve it with hot steam rice and fried fish.

Ingredients:
- 25 nos- Silver fish (mothkas)
- 7 tbsp- fresh grated coconut
- 7 nos- Kashmiri chillies
- 2 tsp- coriander seeds
- 1 tsp- cumin seeds
- small lemon size- tamarind
- 4 flakes- garlic
- 1/2"- ginger
- 1/2 tsp- turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp- oil
- 7 nos- curry leaves
- 1/2- onion chopped
- 2 nos- green chillies slit
- salt to taste
- water as required for gravy
Method:
- Clean the fish head, tail, scrape the scale, wash the fish under running water, apply salt keep aside.
- Make paste of fresh grated coconut, red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, tamarind, ginger, garlic and turmeric powder adding little water.
- In a pan add oil, when oil is hot, add curry leaves, let it splutter.
- Add chopped onion and slit green chillies.
- Add the paste, stir well and cook for five minutes, stiring occasionally.
- Add one glass water or as per consistency for gravy and add salt.
- Bring one nice boil, then add the fish, simmer and cook for ten minutes.
- Fish curry is ready to serve.
- Serve the fish curry with hot steam rice and fried fish.
