Chana Tendli Recipe, Easy Black Chana Tendli Recipe.
Black chana tendli recipe is usually cooked in south. It is also cooked during special occasion. It is a popular Mangalorean recipe. Black chana and tendli is yummy and healthy recipe.
Black chana is also known as kala chana, it is basically legumes. It contain low fat, high dietary fibres and rich in vitamin and minerals. Tendli or tindora is also very good for health it again have nutrients vitamins and minerals.
Black chana is soaked overnight and boiled adding salt. It is blended with aromatic spices, tangy tamarind and grated fresh coconut. It is served with neer dosa, dosa or chapaties.
Preparation Time: 8 hour to soak black chana

Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 3-4

Step By Step Method
1.Soak the black chana for at least eight hour, then boil it in cooker adding salt and take three whistle.
2. Add oil and allow it to become hot.
3. Add the mustard seed and let it splutter.
4. Add crushed garlic, curry leaves, red whole chillies. 5. Add chop onion and saute till translucent.
6. Wash and slice the tendli.
8. Stir nicely.
9. Cover and cook for three minutes.
10. Add red chilly powder, coriander powder, Mangalorean masala or chana masala.
11. Add two tablespoon water and stir for two minutes till all merged together.12. Add the boiled chana along with the water.
13. Add the tamarind water and give a quick stir.
14. Take a nice boil and simmer and cook for two minutes.
15. Now add the grated coconut and salt, give a quick stir again cook for three minutes.
16. Black chana tendli recipe is ready to serve.
17. Serve chana tendli recipe with dosa.
Ingredients:
- Tendli or tindora- 200 gm
- black chana- 300 gm (wash and soak the black chana dal overnight)
- mustard seed: 1/2 tsp
- curry leaves: 1 strig
- garlic cloves crushed: 7 nos
- whole red chillies: 2 nos
- onion chopped: 1 no (big)
- red chilly powder: 1 tsp
- coriander powder: 1/2 tsp
- Mangalorean curry powder or chana masala powder: 2 tsp
- fresh grated coconut: 4 tbsp
- tamarind water: 2 tsp
- oil: 2 tbsp
- salt to taste
- water as required
- Take the washed and soaked dal and cook in cooker adding salt, take three whistle.
- Now take a pan, add oil let it become hot, now add mustard seed and let it crackle.
- Add curry leaves, crushed garlic and whole red chillies.
- Add chop onion, saute till translucent.
- Now add washed and sliced tendli and saute, cover and cook for three minutes.
- Now add red chilly powder, coriander powder, Mangalorean curry powder or chana masala powder and two tablespoon water and cook the masala for two minutes.
- Add the boil chana and also add the water of boiled chana, give a quick stir.
- Add tamarind water, salt and grated coconut mix it well.
- Then add little water,take a boil and then simmer and cook on slow flame for five minutes.
- Black chana tendli recipe is ready to serve.
- Serve it with dosa.
Tips:
- The outermost layer- the bran hull of black rice- has the highest amount of anthocyanin antioxidants.
- Lemon myrtle provides immense relief from muscele cramps and spasms, rheumatism, headaches and fever.
