Bhindi Sabzi Recipe Or Okra Recipe, Easy Bhindi sabzi Recipe Cooked With Onion, Tomato And Chillies.

Bhindi sabzi or okra recipe, is a popular recipe. It is easy, quick, simple recipe followed with few ingredients that are easily available in kitchen. It can be served with chapati or as a side dish along with hot steam rice and dal.

Bhindi or Okra is a high- fiber food, it contains vitamin B6 and folic acid.

Step By Step Method

  1. Wash the Bhindi or Okra under running water, wipe dry with kitchen towel, cut the head and tail of the bhindi and discard it, then slit and chop it in round circle.

    2. Add oil in a pan, add mustard seed and let it splutter.

    3. Add chopped onion and saute till translucent.

 4. Add chopped green chillies and tomato.

         5. Add turmeric powder and salt.

         6. Add the Bhindi and cook till done, stir occasionally.

      7. Bhindi sabzi or Okra is ready to serve.

Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 3-4

Ingredients:
  • 250 gm- Bhindi or Okra
  • 2 nos- onion (chopped)
  • 1 no- tomato (chopped)
  • 3 nos- green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp- turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 3 tbsp- oil
  • salt to taste
Method:
  1. Wash the Bhindi or Okra under running water, wipe dry with kitchen towel, cut the head and tail of the bhindi and discard it, then slit and chop it in round circle.
  2. In a pan add oil, when hot add mustard seed and let it crackle.
  3. Now add chopped onion and saute it, till translucent.
  4. Add chopped green chillies and tomato and saute for a while.
  5. Add turmeric powder stir, add the chopped bhindi, add salt and stir well again.
  6. Now cook it till bhindi is done, stir it occasionally.
  7. Bhindi or Okra sabzi recipe is ready to serve.

Notes:
  • Choose small and tender Bhindi or Okra. To check weather bhindi is tender, break its tail, if easily break means it is fresh and tender and it cooks fast.
  • Do not put lid while cooking Bhindi.
  • Can add potatoes while cooking.
