Pomfret fish curry recipe, Pomfret fish curry recipe, in East Indian method, called 'Kujit' is one of the authentic recipe.

Fish is a stable food prepared in East Indian families. There are varieties of recipes prepared from fish. I am proud to be East Indian (Mumbaikar) and will try to post as many as secret recipes of our culture.

 Fish is prepared in different varieties, like different masala prepared, and the most important ingredient to prepare fish curry recipe is bottle masala or fish masala.

'Kujit' is one of the authentic recipe prepared in East Indian families. It is simple, quick and easy.'Kujit' is prepared with sliced onion, tomato, mild spices ground in coconut and vinegar. It has spicy and tangy flavor.

Step By Step Method

 1. Put oil in the pan and let it become hot.

2. Add curry leaves and let it splutter.

3. Add sliced onion and saute till translucent.

4. Add sliced tomatoes and saute for three minutes.

5. Add turmeric powder and mix well.

6. Take fresh grated coconut, green chillies, ginger, garlic, coriander seeds, cumin seeds.

7. Add little water and make fine paste.

8. Add the paste and fry nicely.

9. Saute the masala for five minutes.

10. Add water as required for gravy and add salt.

11. Give a nice boil to the gravy.

12. Add cleaned, washed and sliced fish to the gravy, take again a boil and simmer and cook for five minutes.

13. Add vinegar and cook for two minutes.

14. Pomfret fish curry or East Indian recipe 'Kujit' is ready to serve.

15. Serve the fish curry with hot steam rice.

Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 3-4

Ingredients:

  • Pomfret- 1 no (can use Gole, Surmai)
  • onion- 1 no sliced
  • tomato- 1 no sliced
  • curry leaves- 6 nos
  • vinegar- 1 tbsp
  • oil- 1 tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • water as required for gravy
Grind to paste:
  • fresh grated coconut- 6 tbsp
  • garlic cloves- 6 nos
  • ginger- 1"
  • green chillies- 6 nos
  • coriander seeds- 1 tbsp
  • cumin seeds- 1/2 tbsp
Method:
  1. In a pan add oil, let it become hot, add curry leaves and let it splutter.
  2. Add slice onion and saute till translucent.
  3. Now add sliced tomato and saute for three minutes.
  4. Add the paste and saute for three minutes.
  5. Add water one glass or as required for gravy and let it boil.
  6. When boil, add the cleaned, washed and the sliced Pomfret fish.
  7. Again allow it to boil, when boil simmer and cook for five minutes.
  8. Now add vinegar, cook for two minutes and switch off the flame.
  9. Serve it with hot steam rice.

Note:
  • Can use fish off your choice like Gole or Surmai.
  • Can use peppercorn along with green chillies for this dish, I have not use, I like the green chillies only for pun-chant taste.
  • Fish cook's fast, do not over cook the fish or it breaks while serving.
Tips:
  • Food to prevent acne are chia seeds, lentils, peas, spirulina, apricots, brazil nuts, avocados, pumpkin seeds, watercress.
