East Indian Mutton stew/Mutton Stew Recipe/Showmerecipe.

 Mutton stew is authentic East Indian traditional recipe. It is mild to taste and very easy recipe. A stew in different region people prepare the mutton stew recipe in their own style and culture. Being an East Indian, Mumbaikar I will share our East Indian style mutton stew recipe, having the authentic taste and aroma in easy, simple and quick way. East Indian mutton stew recipe is an traditional authentic recipe prepared in East Indian families during festive occasion. It is a signature dish prepared during marriages or any East Indian occasion.

Ingredients:

  • Mutton/lamb meat 500 gm
  • Carrot sliced 2
  • Potato sliced 2
  • Green peas half cup
  • Onions fine chopped 3
  • Chillies green chopped 3
  • Garlic chopped 7 cloves 
  • Ginger chopped 1"
  • Tomatoes, medium 2
  • Garam masala powder 1tsp
  • Turmeric powder half tsp
  • Flour/sooji 1 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste 
  • Vinegar 1 tbsp

Method:

  1. Wash the meat thoroughly and cook in cooker adding salt, turmeric powder and meat, taking four whistle or till meat cooked.
  2. In a pan add oil, when hot add chopped onions saute till translucent.
  3. Now add chopped ginger, garlic and green chillies chopped and saute it.
  4. Add tomato cook.
  5. Add all veggies and cook, when veggies are cooked then add garam masala and turmeric powder and boiled meat with its stock.
  6. Cook five minutes and now add water as per consistency for gravy, semolina, salt and vinegar.
  7. Cook for fifteen minutes on slow gas and East Indian mutton stew is ready to serve.

Notes:

  • Can substitute semolina to wheat flour or refine flour.
  • And also can substitute vinegar to lemon juice.
