Kanda batata poha recipe is a popular Maharashtrian breakfast recipe. Kanda batata poha and a.cup of evening tea awesome evening.All age group enjoy this recipe and specially for diet conscious this is the best recipe.  Poha means flattened rice.It is very easy to make also it is a light breakfast.

Serves:3-4

Ingredients:
  • 200 gm poha (pressed rice)
  • 2 onion chopped
  • 2 tbsp peanut (roasted)
  • 2 potatoes cubed (boiled or fried)
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seed (rai)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seed (jeera)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric pd (haldi)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 green chilies chopped
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves chop
  • 5 nos curry leaves
  • pinch asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp oil 
  • salt to taste

Method:

1.In a pan add oil when hot add mustard seed let it crackle then add curry leaves and cumin seed and asafoetida.
2.Now add chop onion when pink add chopped green chilies.
3.Add roasted peanuts and fried or boiled cubed potatoes give a quick stir.
4.Add to it now turmeric pd and poha sprinkle little water add salt,sugar and lime juice stir once nicely cover and take one nice steam for three minutes then add coriander leaves stir once off the gas.
5.Serve it hot.

Notes:
1.Wash the poha in colander keep in side.
2.When you add oil to make poha add 1 tbsp oil more and fry the cubed potatoes and it fry golden brown remove and keep in side and continue making poha.
3.When you add mustard seed let it crackle or it will give bitter taste to your dish.
4. Poha gets cooked fast so add when all other ingredients are cooked, also sprinkle water very little do not pour water or your poha will become sticky or smashy and also while washing poha do not use hand but keep the poha in colander and keep it under running water under tap for two second and keep the colander in side to drain the water from it.
5. Poha is the main key to this ingredient if you follow the notes above your poha will be yummy.
