Missal Pav Recipe, How To Make Missal Pav Recipe



Missal pav recipe is very authentic and popular breakfast recipe of Maharashtra. Missal pav recipe is very healthy recipe. It contain sprouts, farsan, onion and tomato topping and nice zanzanit red gravy called kut eaten with pav. There are different ways, different sprouts and masala used to prepare the missal pav recipe. Like the chawali usal, Kala vatan usal, vatan usal (white and green) etc. I have used the sprouted green moth. The spicy missal is found in Kolapur the Kolapuri missal.  We can eat as breakfast or evening tea time it is very filling dish.It can also eaten as meal.

Preparation Time:10 minutes
Cooking Time:15 minutes
Serves:3-4

Ingredient:
For Usal

  • Moth beans 150 gm (matkhi) 
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seed (rai)
  • pinch asafoetida (hing)
  • pinch turmeric pd (haldi)
  • 1tsp Goda masala or garam masala pd
  • 1 small cup water
  • salt to taste

For Gravy (Kut)   

  • 1 onion cubed
  • 2 tomato cubed
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1/2"ginger
  • 2 green chilies (option)
  • 1 small stick cinnamon (dalchini)
  • 2 cloves (lovang)
  • 1 bay leaves (Tejpatta)
  • 1 tsp cumin pd (jeera pd)
  • 1 tsp coriander pd (dhaniya pd)
  • 1/2 fresh grated coconut
  • 4 tsp red chilly pd (lal mirich pd)
  • 4 tsp + 4 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds (rai)
  • pinch turmeric pd
  • pinch asafoetida (hing)
  • salt to taste

To serve:

  • 1 big onion chop
  • 1 big tomato chop
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves chop
  • 1 bowl  mix farsan
  • 4 pav

Method:

For Usal
1.Soak the moth overnight or 12 hour then tie it in muslin cloth to sprout.
2.Then take the moth in cooker adding 1 small cup water adding salt take 2 whistles.
3.Now in a pan put oil,asafoetida,turmeric pd, garam masala pd, stir nicely add boiled moth mix nicely cook for five minutes turn off the gas.

For Gravy (Kut): 
1.Now in a pan take oil add garlic,ginger,cinnamon,cloves,bay leaves,cumin pd,coriander pd,green chilies,onion tomatoes,coconut all fry nicely till oil comes out now remove this masala in plate cold it add water and make fine paste.Now remove the paste in a bowl add 1 big glass water mix and keep.
3.Now in a pan take oil add turmeric pd,asafoetida,red chilly pd and add the liquid paste stir add salt add water if required (because the gravy should be thin).
4.When nicely boiled at least ten minutes on slow flame then off the gas.  
5.Serve it first in plate moth,gravy,onion,tomato,farsan and garnish coriander leaves.

Notes:
showmerecipies1.Can subsitude dry coconut instead of wet.
2.Add cubed fried potatoes.
3.Use slice bread instead of pav
4.If goda masala is not available then use garam masala pd.
