Prawns green curry is my one of my favourite curry. It is blended with mild spices. During summer green raw mangoes can be added to this curry. Prawns can be substitute to many dishes pulao, kebab, pattic, briyani....

Prawns should be de-veined properly or it may cause euphemism for the digestive tract. Prawns are important type of sea food. They contain omega-3, which are benefit also they contain calcium, iodine and protein. It is also the significant source of cholesterol. It is the yummiest sea-food.

Here goes my step by step prawns recipe.

Step By Step Method


1. Take fresh grated coconut, green chillies, fresh coriander leaves, cumin seed, ginger, garlic, tamarind and turmeric powder.

2, Make fine paste adding little water.



3. Clean, de vein, wash and apply salt to the prawns and keep aside.

4. In a pan put oil, when it become hot add curry leaves and chopped onion and sauté till translucent.

5. Add the prawns and sauté till changes the colour.

6. Now add the green paste.

7. Add water as required for gravy, salt and bring a nice boil.

8. When the gravy boil's nicely, slow the flame and boil the gravy for five minutes more.

9. Serve hot with steam rice or chapaties.

Ingredient: 
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 8 curry leaves
  • 1/4 kg or 15 prawns (cleaned, de-veined,washed, add salt and keep)
  • 1 tbsp oil 
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup water or (as required for gravy)
To make paste:
  • 5 tbsp fresh grated coconut
  • 3 green chillies
  • 3 sprigs of fresh coriander leaves
  • 1 small lemon size tamarind
  • 1 small teaspoon cumin
  • 7 cloves garlic
  • 1/2" ginger
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
Method:
  1. Take a pan add oil, add the curry leaves and chop onion sauté till translucent
  2. Add the prawns sauté till the colour changes of the prawns. 
  3. Now the green paste and sauté for couple of second.
  4. Add water and salt bring a nice boil to it.
  5. Then cook on slow flame for seven minutes.
  6. Serve hot with steam rice or chapaties.
Note:
Can add potatoes, if potato is added cook it in oil after adding onion cook for five minutes and then add the prawns.

Tip of the day

  • Oregano helps soothe stomach muscles.
  • Ginger helps in anti-nausea remedy.
  • Cinnamon helps to lower the blood pressure.
  • Turmeric helps as anti-cancer.
