Lauki dalcha recipe is a healthy veggie recipe.It is made from chana dal and lauki. It is very tasty, it is the main course and popular dish of India. It is a stew made from lauki, chana dal, tamarind and spices.

Step By Step Method


1. In the cooker add oil and let it become hot, then add mustard seeds, let it crackle then add minced green chillies, ginger, garlic and sauté for two minutes.

2. Add chopped tomatoes and sauté till oil leaves the sides.



3. Add red chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and stir well.

4. Add the soaked chana dal.

5. Stir well the dal and the spices added.

6. Add the cubed lauki and mix well.

7. Add one small cup water and salt.

8. Add the garam masala powder.

9. Put lid to the cooker and take four whistle and turn off the gas, then allow the pressure to drop on its own. Ready to serve.

Ingredient:
  • Chana dal or Bengal gram 1 small cup (soak chana dal for 2 hour)
  • 1 small lauki or bottle gourd (cubed to small pieces) 
  • 2 medium tomato
  • 1 tsp mustard seed
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 1/2"ginger chopped
  • 4 chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric pd
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala pd
  • salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves chop
Method:

1. In pan add oil when hot add mustard seed and let it crackle then add chopped ginger/garlic/chillies
2. Now add chopped tomatoes and sauté till oil leaves the side.
3.Now add red chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder.
4.Fry masala add soaked dal and stir well.
5.Now add small cubed pieces of lauki and add half cup water or as per consistency.
6.Add, garam masala, salt and close the lid of the cooker and take four whistles.
7.When lauki and chana dal is cooked off the gas and garnish coriander leaves.
8.Serve it with jeera rice and chapatis.

Note:      
1.Soak the chana dal overnight for good texture of curry.
2.Cube the lauki fine pieces.
3.Use cooker instead of pan add all masala, lauki, and chana dal take 3 whistle adding 1 cup of water and cook, when cooker is cold open the lid and see the consistency, add water if required for gravy and take a boil and cook on low flame for five minutes and serve.
