Dried Prawns Curry Recipe, How To Make Dried Prawns Curry Recipe

Dry prawns (shrimps) is also known as sukat made from a larger species of shrimp which is dried and consumed. Dried prawns (sukat) is found in Maharashtra, Konkan, Karnataka, Goa, also in Tamil Nadu.

While cooking we trim the head and tail. This dish is very easy to prepare. We can prepare suka dried prawns dish, dried prawns chutney. I have prepared dried prawns curry, it is simple and easy recipe.

Ingredients :
  • 1/2 cup dried prawns ( trim the prawns head and tail, washed three times in water and soaked in water for half hour)
  • 2 nos potatoes cubed
  • 2 nos onion chopped
  • 2 nos tomatoes chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger/garlic paste
  • 2 tsp mix masala or malwani masala
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 tsp tamarind pulp
  • salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup water
Method:
  1. In a pan put oil when hot add curry leaves, when splutters add chop onion and saute till golden brown.
  2. Add ginger/ garlic paste saute for few second.
  3. Now add prawns saute till color changes, add potatoes stir cover and cook, when half cooked add tomatoes stir cook for five minutes.
  4. Add the mix masala, turmeric powder stir all well, add one cup water and salt to taste, take a nice boil.
  5. Add tamarind pulp stir cover and cook for five minutes.
  6. Serve it with hot boil rice or chapatis.

  • Eaten raw onions are natural stimulants and digestives.
  • One teaspoon of raw onion juice early in the morning is said to be excellent for heart cases and blood cholesterol.
  • The white onion juice with equal quantity of honey acts as a powerful aphrodisiacs.
