Chicken Pulao Recipe, How To Make Chicken Pulao Recipe

There are different type of rice preparation pulao, briyani, khicdi etc. Rice can also prepared adding vegetables, chicken, mutton, eggs, paneer, soya etc. Chicken Pulao is one of the variation, added mild spiced flavored rice. Compared to briyani, pulao is very mild, simple spiced ingredient, easy and quick to prepare. It is kids friendly recipe truly yum and worth making.

Preparation Time : 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 35 minutes
Serves : 5-6


Ingredients :
  • 4 black pepper
  • 2 black cardamon
  • 2 small stick cinnamon
  • 4 nos cloves
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp black cumin
  • 6 tbsp oil
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 4 nos sliced onion
  • 3 nos sliced tomatoes
  • 6 green chillies
  • 2 tbsp ginger/ garlic paste
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp fennel powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 4 tbsp yoghurt
  • salt to taste
  • 750 gm long grain rice or kolam rice
  • 1 kg chicken
Method :
  1. In a heavy bottom pan put oil and butter then add black pepper, cloves, cardamon, cinnamon, bay leaves, black cumin.
  2. Add sliced onion and sugar saute till golden brown or caramelize color.
  3. Now add ginger/ garlic paste and sliced tomatoes saute till oil leaves the side.
  4. Add all the powdered spices the coriander powder, red chilli powder, fennel powder, cumin powder fry till oil separates.
  5. Now add curd (beaten) stir for two minutes.
  6. Add the chicken give a quick stir and add the rice.
  7. Add water till the rice is dissolved. ( If rice is one cup then water two cup depends on rice, if rice is new water should be added less).
  8. Add the salt take a nice boil on fast flame, then slow the flame cover it with lid and cook till rice is done.
  9. Serve hot with salad.

Note :
  • Wash rice and soak for 20 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Gently stir the rice because basmati after soaking becomes very fragile.
  • This recipe can be prepared in pressure cooker same as above and take three or four whistle.
  • We can use coconut milk, instead of yoghurt.
  • If you want to make chicken pulao a little richer, you can grind ten cashew nuts and add it along with the coconut milk or yoghurt.
